ABOUT

When I retired, I felt serving on the School Board was an opportunity to give back to my community.  I remain committed to students' success academically, mental health, and social, emotional, behavioral development, and to providing quality instruction and services to students. I know the importance of professional development to enable teachers and support staff to enhance their skills to continually improve in their ability to meet the needs of each and every student.

My 40 years of educational experience as a special education teacher (19 years), elementary teacher (West Elementary, 6 yrs), Director of Instruction (6 yrs), mentor and professional development facilitator for teachers (9 years) provide a variety of perspectives.  On a personal level, I am the wife of Joe Conlin (retired Newbold fifth-grade teacher), mother of two RHS graduates, and grandmother of five girls.

I bring these diverse perspectives and expertise to Board discussions and decision-making.  I ask fair but tough questions, listen to the varied voices and views of families and community members, and work to build consensus on the Board so that we can update and implement district policies and practices that respect and support the needs and interests of all students, families, faculty, and staff in our schools.  I am grateful to our community for their support of high-quality public education and for giving me the opportunity to serve on the Board the past 15 years and hope you will allow me to continue to serve for the next 3 years.
